It would appeal to readers who enjoy a raw, emotional Dark Romance. Still Beating is a story of strength and survival.

I loved watching them coping with life after trauma which made it especially hard given their situation. But I’m glad it didn’t because the rest of the story gave it weight with a good dose of angst and emotions. The first 1/3 of the story was dark and I initially thought it would stay that way for a while. This is rough and raw and dirty, and we’re animals clawing at each other, biting, all primal growls and desperate thrusts. Though I have to say, there were a coupled significant incidents in the book that would have enriched the story more if they were addressed properly. Cora can be a little pushy, but I loved how she had her own dilemma to deal with. Dean played his tortured hero persona to perfection.

I’m glad to say the book lived up to the hype. But a traumatic life-changing event bound them together in a way that neither of them was ready to handle and inexplicably changed the course of their lives.Īfter seeing a lot of rave reactions to this book, I had high expectations going in. For fifteen years, Cora Lawson and Dean Asher had been archenemies, always finding ways to one-up another.
